Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan (ABAD) has requested Corps Commander, Karachi Lt-General Shahid Baig Mirza and DG Rangers Major General Muhammad Saeed to take action against allegedly PPP supported notorious land grabber Ali Hassan Brohi. Speaking at a crowded press conference held at ABAD house here, Chairman Arif Jeewa said that before the advent of Ramazan, an intense wave of criminal activities gripped the city after over two years of normalcy.
"It is incomprehensible why land grabbing, kidnapping and manipulation in land records at Sindh Revenue department are being taken place, which might be for upcoming general elections" he said.
He said that Ali Hassan Brohi, a notorious land grabber supported by Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP) has again started his illicit activities after almost four years with no fear of apprehension as he is being patronized by one of the directors of anti-encroachment Dr Farooq, who might be more powerful than the system as law enforcement agencies, especially police were showing support to him instead of ABAD members.
Resultantly, builders and developers are facing similar situation before year 2013 when they were kidnapped and murdered over refusal of paying extortion or showing resistance against land grabbers, he maintained.
He requested Corps Commander, Karachi Lt-General Shahid Baig Mirza and DG Rangers Major General Muhammad Saeed to take action against notorious land grabber Ali Hassan Brohi.
Citing another issue, Jeewa said that land records at Sindh Revenue Department were also being manipulated to support the land grabbing and lauded the efforts of the Commissioner Karachi for his timely action that led averting this wicked exercise in one of the cases and facilitated ABAD member at Scheme 33.
It seems that government is not completing its tenure but bureaucracy as they look in a hurry to mint money by any means; he said and added that Aftab Memon member Sindh Revenue department despite having court order cancelled the ownership of land overnight without intimating the developer concerned.
"We have sent letters to IG Sindh A.D Khuwaja but instead of convening meeting with ABAD delegation he referred our plea to CCPO Karachi," he said; terming the said attitude of IG Sindh discriminatory against the business community of Karachi, which he believed would raise excruciation among Karachiites against rest of the Sindh province.
He said that we were not paying taxes to make wrongdoers stronger; adding that restriction imposed by water commission not to place raw material on roads by the developers had opened another door of corruption for area SHOs, who were threatening the builders and developers to lodge FIRs against them, if they did not grease their palms.
He also urged the water commission to look into the matter and take appropriate decision to stop such malpractices. A large number of ABAD members also attended the presser.
