sdfgaszxcKARACHI: Additional Inspector General of Police, Karachi, Akhter Hussain Gorchani chaired a meeting Tuesday to review measures adopted to counter street crimes as well as other criminal activities in all five districts of the metropolis.

Under an updated strategy the police department has actively involved all police stations in the metropolis to promptly address growing cases of crimes in the city.

Additional IG - Karachi speaking on the occasion said security of public life, protection of their property and maintenance of law and order situation are the primary responsibilities of the police department.

He urged the police officers attending the meeting to realize their professional responsibilities with absolute impartiality and take strict action against criminals and all violators of law without any distinction.

Gorchani directed that ongoing snap checking, rapid and surprise raids, picketing and patrolling particularly in sensitive areas must be expedited. "The process of identification must be granted priority in the exercise," said the AIG of Police, Karachi.

The meeting that was also attended by all three DIGs of Karachi range, District SSPs of Malir, South, East, West and Central and Divisional SSPs was told to ensure that no inconvenience was caused to law abiding and peaceful citizens. "In-fact care should be taken of such citizens and their cooperation be sought against criminals," he said.

AIG Gorchani said advance intelligence collection units established at police stations levels must be re-activated and a compact arrangement must be made for intelligence sharing coupled with strict surveillance.
