KARACHI: Governor Sindh, Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan, has recommended to the Government of Pakistan for the conferment of Nishan-i-Imtiaz to Father Robert McCulloch and Sister John Berchmans in view of the service rendered by them in health and education especially in the interior of Sindh since 1978.
This was stated in a statement issued by the Press secretary to the Governor on Tuesday. It said that Father Robert was the chairman of the Administrative Council of 100-bed Elizabeth Hospital Hyderabad.
The hospital, it was pointed out, was providing health facilities not only to the residents of Hyderabad city but also from the rural areas. It was also serving as the nursing school where students were also offered scholarships.
Father Robert also formed various educational set ups in the fight against illiteracy. Poor students from the interior of Sindh were benefiting from them.
In the 2010 floods, Father Robert had actively participated in the relief efforts. Sister Conway is the Principal of the famous school of Karachi- Jesus and Mary.
She is rendering service in the realms of education for the past 59 years. In view of the outstanding services rendered by these two personalities, Governor Sindh, Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan, recommended the conferment of Nishan-i-Imtiaz.
According to the statement of the Press Secretary to the Governor of sindh, issued here on Tuesday, President Asif Ali Zardari has acceded to the request.
