Chairman, Peace Sports and Culture Foundation of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf Pakistan Iftikhar Elahi Thursday said that Peace and Youth Cricket Festival across Pakistan will be organized in January 2018. This he said in a press briefing here at Media Center of the Qayyum Sports Complex with office-bearers of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa PTI Sports and Culture Forum and Pakistan Sports and Culture Federation were also present.
He said they would bear all expenses and did not look toward the sitting PTI government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. "We have chalked out a plan to involve maximum number of youth through cricket Talent Hunt Program in which teams would made before conducting matches," Iftikhar Elahi, a close friend of legendary Imran Khan added.
He said players like Shahid Afridi, Younis Khan, Sohaib Akhtar, Abdul Qadir, Shoaib Malik, Misbah ul Haq and other star cricketers would be involved in both the selection process and matches like they had in way back 2013. He said in 2013 they organized a Twenty20 match wherein top stars of cricket skyline visited Peshawar in a time when even local teams and players were reluctant to visit Peshawar due to a serial of bomb blasts and poor law and order situation.
This time we have support of all cricketing stars and legendary Imran Khan will also visit to the Twenty20 matches to be part of the Peace and Youth Cricket Festival, he added. Iftikhar Elahi said that they have chalked out a plan under which trials in all big cities would be organized and qualified selection committees would short-list the players before finalizing teams for the Pakistan Twenty20 Cricket Cup. Through Peace Youth Festival, such talented players would be provided due opportunities to come and show their hidden skills at national and international levels.
Hailing from Lahore, a former first class cricketer, Iftikhar Elahi disclosed that he held a meeting with the Chief Minister KP, Sports Minister KP Mehmood Khan who signalled go ahead to organize the much awaited Peace Youth Festival.
