LAHORE: Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) will soon share the second part of its plan regarding Ease of Doing Business (EODB) with the government.

LCCI President Almas Hyder said here Saturday that the first part of the plan produced vibrant results and the government deserved appreciation for taking the LCCI suggestions seriously for the initiative.

According to a recent World Bank report, he mentioned, Pakistan had moved to 136th from 147th position, which was a good economic news for the country as good ranking in this particular index influenced the economy on many counts. The EODB was directly linked with economic growth of the country and its improvement would definitely energise economy of the country.

He said that business community was well aware of the fact that the government alone could not handle economic challenges; therefore, the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry was suggesting practicable measures for economic wellbeing of the country.

Almas said that Lahore Chamber, which had started working on Ease of Doing Business in the year 2016, had contributed to the maximum to help bring it down to 136 by 11 places from 147. He said that joint efforts must be made, as Pakistan's present ranking in the Ease of Doing Business was still low compared with regional countries and much work would have to be done for securing a reasonable place at the EODB index.

Almas Hyder hoped that the government would introduce business-friendly reforms, rules and regulations to achieve the desired economic targets in shortest possible time.
