Almost every one of us immediately throws away those tiny Silica sachets that come out of our new stuff and clearly says ‘DO NOT EAT’. Turns out, these little sachets can in turn be very important for us and can be used for a lot of life hacks.

Business Insider explained few of the hacks these little silica sachets can help us wait.

  1. Saving wet phones

People usually advice to put your wet phone in rice, however, these tiny sachets are 10 times more efficient when it comes to sucking up the moisture. Switch off the phone and leave it in a jar of these silica gels overnight and they will do the magic.

  1. Extending the life of razor blades

Razors often get affected by moisture leading to blunting blades before their time. Razors could be kept in a Tupperware container along with few silica bags and this will increase the life of the razors.

  1. Keeping gym bags fresh

After working out, the sweaty kit and trainers are usually kept in the gym bag ultimately making them smelly. Keeping some silica packets in the bag can help removing the dampness and keeping the bag germ and smell-free.

  1. Preserving old pictures

Often storing old pictures lead them to stick together, destroying them. Instead, these pictures could be kept with some silica sachets, which will help keeping the pictures dry and intact. This can also help in protecting old books.

  1. Defogging windshields

Placing a few silica bags under the windshield could help it remain dry and clear despite of the weather outside.

  1. Keeping the silver shiny

The Sun explains, silica sachets could help keep the silver from turning to black. Silver could be wrapped up with a silica gel sachet and it will absorb the moisture, avoiding the silver to turn black.

  1. Packing wet clothes

Often when on vacation, people keep their wet clothes along with the dry ones, turning the entire belongings damp. Keeping silica packets in the bag will help absorb the moisture and avoid dampness.

These tiny little packets that we throw away without a single thought have much more benefits than we expected. Maybe, next time we should rethink before tossing them away.
