Govt cuts petrol by Rs2.27, diesel by Rs3.56 per litre

  • New prices effective for September 29
Published Updated

Pakistan government reduced on Monday the price of petrol by Rs2.27 per litre to Rs389.03 and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs3.56 to Rs404.97 per litre, effective for September 29, 2026.

According to a Petroleum Division notification, the price of HSD was reduced from Rs408.53 to Rs404.97 per litre, while the price of motor spirit (petrol) was declined from Rs391.30 to Rs389.03 per litre.

The revised prices will remain effective for September 29, 2026, under the federal government’s petroleum pricing mechanism.

The Petroleum Division said the price revision was necessitated by global developments, including changes in Platts rates, premiums and incidentals.

On Friday, the government had hiked petrol by Rs2.02 and reduced diesel by Rs3.59 per litre.

Meanwhile, oil prices rose about 2% on Monday after US President Donald Trump rejected a peace deal from Iran to resolve their conflict and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

Brent futures were up $1.68, or 1.6%, at $106 barrel by 1320 GMT, after hitting their highest since September 15 earlier in the session. US West Texas Intermediate crude was at $94.10 a barrel, up $1.69, or 1.8%.
