ISLAMABAD: A lawmaker from Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), in the Upper House of the Parliament, is sponsoring two employees of the Senate Secretariat to perform Hajj for the next year, it has emerged.

In this context, a balloting ceremony was held at the Parliament House to choose two names from the employees of the Senate Secretariat - from Basic Pay Scale (BPS) one to seven.

Senator Amir Waliuddin Chishti from MQM-P is sponsoring the two employees to perform Hajj 2027, said a statement issued here on Thursday.

Chairman Senate Yousaf Raza Gilani presided over the balloting ceremony that was attended by senators; Chishti, Masroor Ahsan and Rahat Jamali, Secretary Senate Hasnain Haider, and a large number of Senate Secretariat employees.

“Hajj is one of the fundamental pillars of Islam and a profound act of worship. Every Muslim cherishes the desire to visit the sacred House of Allah and have the honour of performing Hajj,” Gilani said, speaking on the occasion.

“Hajj is a means of seeking Allah Almighty’s pleasure and closeness, and attaining the opportunity to perform this sacred obligation is a matter of great joy and honour for every Muslim,” he added.

Chairman Gilani congratulated the two “fortunate” employees selected through the balloting for Hajj, and expressed hope that they would “undertake their sacred journey with devotion and return with the blessings of Allah Almighty.”

Gilani also extended his appreciation to Chishti for sponsoring the two employees for Hajj.
