KARACHI: Mayor Karachi calls construction industry backbone of Pakistan’s economy during meeting with ABAD delegation.

A high-level delegation of the Association of Builders and Developers, led by Chairman Hassan Bakhshi, called on Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab to discuss the city’s ongoing development projects, the construction sector and other key urban issues.

During the meeting, Mayor emphasized that the construction industry serves as the backbone of Pakistan’s economy, providing livelihoods to millions of people and playing a vital role in driving economic growth.

He said the Sindh Government and the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation are working with full commitment to improve the city’s infrastructure and accelerate its development.

Highlighting the need for sustainable urban planning, the Mayor said the city administration intends to transform the development model for informal settlements and called on ABAD to partner with the government in achieving this objective.

Addressing Karachi’s urban challenges, Barrister Murtaza Wahab described traffic congestion as the city’s biggest issue and revealed that the establishment of modern parking plazas is under active consideration to ease traffic pressure.

Municipal Commissioner Abrar Jaffar, Financial Adviser Gulzar Ali Abro, senior KMC officials, and prominent builders also attended the meeting.
