KARACHI: A key review meeting of the Local Government Department was held under the chairmanship of Sindh Minister for Local Government Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, who attended the meeting via Zoom and reviewed in detail the progress of ongoing and proposed development projects across the province, administrative affairs and the challenges being faced.

The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Local Government Dr. Waseem Shamshad, Special Secretary Technical Azhar Hussain Shah, Director Mega Projects Abdul Ghani Shaikh, Brigadier Adnan and other officials concerned.

During the meeting, a detailed briefing was given on approved and unapproved development schemes, while several important decisions were taken to ensure timely completion of projects and provision of better public facilities.

Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that the M-9 Abul Hasan Ispahani Road Bridge had already been approved, while the Hawkes Bay Y Junction Scheme was also among the approved projects. Therefore, no further delay in those schemes would be tolerated.

He said that all the necessary formalities for development schemes facing no technical or legal hurdles should be completed immediately to ensure the commencement of practical work without delay.

He also directed the authorities to immediately coordinate with the Planning and Development (P&D) Department for the approval of the PC-I of the Malir Halt Underpass and Jinnah Avenue Road, which are part of the M-9 project, and complete all required formalities at the earliest.

The meeting also reviewed the progress on the Defence Underpass project, where the Minister directed the relevant authorities to resolve all utility-related issues on a priority basis and immediately initiate construction work.

Syed Nasir Hussain Shah emphasized that funds for all these development projects were available and instructed officials to remove all administrative and technical hurdles without delay to ensure swift implementation.

He said the Sindh Government was committed to completing all major infrastructure projects within the stipulated timeframe to improve urban infrastructure, ensure smooth traffic flow and provide better commuting facilities to the people, adding that theofficers concerned must continuously monitor the projects so that the people could benefit from those development initiatives at the earliest.
