LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari met with U.S. Consul General Stetson Sanders in Lahore, Stetson Sanders, to discuss matters of mutual interest, enhanced cultural cooperation, and the Punjab government’s ongoing development and public welfare initiatives.
The meeting was also attended by Punjab Information Secretary Syed Tahir Raza Hamdani and Political and Economic Advisor at the U.S. Consulate, Sadaf Saad.
During the meeting, Consul General Stetson Sanders praised Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for her initiatives aimed at promoting public welfare, culture, and the arts. He also commended the Punjab government’s efforts to establish the Punjab Film City and revive the province’s theatre industry.
The two sides also discussed prospects for establishing a cultural partnership between American artists and the Alhamra Arts Council, along with organizing joint cultural and artistic activities in Lahore.
Speaking on the occasion, Azma Bokhari briefed the U.S. Consul General on the landmark public welfare initiatives launched by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. She said the Punjab government is implementing historic measures to improve the lives of women, students, and farmers across the province. She further informed the Consul General that under the “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” housing programme, construction of 170,000 homes is currently underway, helping thousands of families realize their dream of owning a home.
Both sides agreed to further strengthen cooperation between the Punjab Information and Culture Department and the U.S. Consulate Lahore in the fields of culture, arts, and creative industries.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari presented a commemorative souvenir to U.S. Consul General Stetson Sanders.
