KARACHI: Pakistan’s Provincial Disaster Management Authority, Sindh, has warned of monsoon rains and thunderstorms in several districts of upper Sindh on July 3 and 4, and the authorities have been directed to remain on alert and farmers to adjust agricultural activities in anticipation of the changing weather.
PDMA Director Operations Shayan Shah said a monsoon system was expected to bring rain to the districts of Sukkur, Larkana, Dadu, Jacobabad and Shaheed Benazirabad, whereas Kashmore, Shikarpur, Ghotki, Khairpur, Qambar-Shahdadkot and Naushahro Feroze are likely to receive rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms.
The weather system is expected to ease the prevailing heatwave and humid conditions in the affected areas, Shah said.
He warned that rainfall and thunderstorms could damage vulnerable and weak structures, advising residents to take necessary precautions during the forecast period.
The PDMA has asked farmers to plan agricultural activities according to the weather outlook to reduce the risk of crop losses.
