Army’s top brass says regional stability depends on restraint, respect for sovereignty

The top brass of the Pakistan Army said on Tuesday that emerging geopolitical developments carry significant implications for regional stability, stressing that peace in the region depends on restraint, responsibility, and respect for sovereignty.

The statement came after Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir presided over the 275th Corps Commanders’ Conference at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The forum said Pakistan had continued to play a responsible role in advocating stability and supporting efforts to prevent further deterioration of the situation.

It underscored the need to avoid escalation, saying collective restraint and respect for sovereignty were essential for peace and stability in the region.

The conference reviewed the overall internal and external security environment and reiterated Pakistan’s resolve to maintain operational readiness and counter evolving threats.

The forum also paid tribute to the martyrs of the armed forces, law enforcement agencies, and civilians who laid down their lives in defence of the country, saying their sacrifices remained central to Pakistan’s security, unity, and resilience.

The ISPR said the army chief expressed satisfaction over the armed forces’ operational preparedness, professionalism and combat readiness, and praised commanders and formations for their performance in ongoing intelligence-based counterterrorism operations.

The forum resolved to maintain the current operational tempo to dismantle terrorist networks, destroy their support infrastructure and deny them operational space inside Pakistan.

It also noted the continued degradation of terrorists and their support networks through Operation Ghazb lil Haq.

The military forum rejected what it called the Taliban regime’s propaganda campaign accusing Pakistan of targeting civilians inside Afghanistan, saying such allegations were false and part of a coordinated disinformation effort.

It said Pakistan’s defensive actions remained focused, precise and directed only against infiltrators, terrorist hideouts and support infrastructure.

The forum also congratulated the nation and armed forces on the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq, calling it a defining moment of national unity and resolve.

It said the commemoration sent a clear message that the Pakistani nation stood united, resilient and prepared to defend its sovereignty.

The forum strongly condemned atrocities, extrajudicial killings and demographic changes in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, reaffirming Pakistan’s diplomatic, political and moral support for the Kashmiri people.

In his concluding remarks, the army chief directed commanders to maintain the highest levels of vigilance, operational readiness and adaptability in the face of evolving threats.

He also called for continued focus on professional excellence, integrated response mechanisms and proactive measures against both conventional and non-conventional challenges.
