LAHORE: Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, on Saturday said that imposed rulers cannot win the confidence of the masses and stressed that sovereignty must be returned to the people, insisting that meaningful change would only come through a complete overhaul of the system.

Addressing the launch ceremony of Jamaat-e-Islami’s nationwide membership drive at Moon Market, Allama Iqbal Town, he said the musical chairs of power among those nurtured by the establishment must end.

He later addressed online gathering of party workers across the country from Mansoorah.

The JI Emir announced target of five million members and 20,000 public committees under the campaign, noting that the party currently has around two million members and 15,000 committees nationwide.
