FAISALABAD: Significant strides have been made towards operational efficiency at the Faisalabad Dry Port (FDP), with speedy clearance of import and export containers now being ensured under recent revival measures, said Dr Rizwan Basharat, Collector Customs Faisalabad.

Addressing an interactive session organised by the Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) on Tuesday, he stated that the clearance time for import and export shipments has been brought down to a minimum through progressive administrative measures.

He highlighted that the self-tracking system at Faisalabad Dry Port is a major facilitative initiative for the export community, offering real-time visibility of import and export consignments. The system significantly enhances transparency and operational oversight, reduces dependency on manual follow-ups, and minimizes uncertainty in the clearance process.

It also enables exporters to better coordinate logistics and production planning, resulting in improved efficiency and smoother supply chain management.

He urged members to route their shipments through Faisalabad, highlighting the improved facilitation measures and enhanced operational efficiency at the Faisalabad Dry Port.

He encouraged exporters to take full advantage of the upgraded services, noting that increased utilisation of the facility would not only streamline their operations but also contribute to strengthening local trade activity and overall export performance.

Responding to a question, he stated that a dedicated WhatsApp group is being established under the administration of PTEA to ensure swift communication and the timely resolution of exporters’ issues. The initiative is aimed at strengthening coordination between stakeholders and facilitating prompt redressal of operational concerns faced by the export community. He highlighted key amendments in the Export Facilitation Scheme (EFS) aimed at improving operational efficiency, simplifying procedural requirements, and enhancing ease of compliance for exporters.

He explained that the revised framework is intended to reduce processing delays, support better liquidity management, and provide greater flexibility in the utilisation of imported inputs against export orders. He appreciated the role of PTEA in promoting constructive dialogue and strengthening collaboration between Customs authorities and the business community.

Earlier, PTEA’s Vice Chairman Ameer Ahmad welcomed the Collector Customs and appreciated the constructive engagement and ongoing efforts of Customs authorities in facilitating trade and resolving industry-related issues. He also highlighted the importance of close coordination between the Association and Customs for improving operational efficiency and ensuring smooth import and export processes.
