KARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) launched its “Parho Parhao Campaign” in Gulistan-e-Jauhar on Monday, offering local families free books for their children through April 25.

Inaugurating the effort at a ceremony in Block 1, JI Karachi Chief Monem Zafar Khan also opened the newly restored Fatima Surayya Bajia Park, promising residents a fresh space for recreation alongside educational support.

The campaign will run until April 25, covering Blocks 1 to 15. Parents can walk away with free books for their sons and daughters from Grade 1 all the way to matriculation.

“The true foundation of any nation’s progress lies in education,” Monem Zafar told the public. “Without quality education for our children, a strong and self-reliant society is impossible.”

He said JI is striving for an educational revolution in Karachi through both the “Parho Parhao Campaign” and the “Bano Qabil Program.” Under the latter, he pointed out that young people are receiving free modern IT education.

So far, he said, over 450,000 students have registered, while more than 50,000 youths have completed free IT courses and become a support for their parents. “These are not just numbers,” Monem Zafar said. “They are signs of this city’s changing destiny.”

He pointed to a recent aptitude test where 45,000 students participated, which is a proof, he said, that Karachi’s youth want to learn, move forward, and improve their lives. “It is our responsibility to give them opportunities.”
