KARACHI: Anjum Nisar Chairman Businessmen Panel (BMP) and former President Federation of Pakistan of Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) Anjum Nisar has said that locally produced goods are playing a crucial role in supporting Pakistan’s economy as well construction and home appliance sectors while contributing significantly to import substitution.

A delegation of the BMP, led by Anjum Nisar, visited the Expo Center where they reviewed “Gujranwala Expo” and a wide range of locally manufactured industrial products and called for enhancing production and exports to strengthen the economy.

During their visit to the Gujranwala Expo, the delegation comprising Nasir Hayat Magu, Sultan, FPCCI Vice President (KPK) Aun Ali, Rafique Suleman Spokesman BMP ad former chairman Rice Exporters Association of Pakistan (REAP), Oom Parkash, Ghani Usman, Iqbal Dada, Shaukat Ali and other senior leaders toured many stalls displaying products such as fans, washing machines, motors, pipes and sanitary ware.

Nisar appreciated the quality and diversity of the products and praised the efforts of exhibitors. He said locally produced goods are playing a crucial role in supporting Pakistan’s construction and home appliance sectors while contributing significantly to import substitution.

He noted that many products once imported are now being manufactured locally, helping reduce the country’s import bill. He urged industrialists to expand production capacity, increase operational shifts and focus on export-oriented growth.

Highlighting strong demand in international markets, particularly in GCC countries, Africa and Europe, he expressed confidence that Pakistani products can compete globally and generate valuable foreign exchange. The president, vice president and senior leadership of the Gujranwala Chamber were also present on the occasion.

Earlier in the day, Anjum Nisar arrived in Karachi and was received by Rafique Suleman, Syed Ali and Muhammad Ali, former president of the Gujranwala Chamber. The delegation later visited Aga Khan University Hospital to inquire about the health of the mother of former Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori. They met his father Ather Tessori and Farhan Tessori, and offered prayers for her speedy recovery.

The BMP delegation attended a condolence gathering for the late Haji Aslam Sheikh, a senior member who passed away on the eve of Eid, and offered prayers for the departed soul.
