PESHAWAR: Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi has announced that a mega public meeting will be held in the province on 19th April, stating that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf rally scheduled in District Mardan will serve as a historic and defining political event in the country’s contemporary politics.
He said the gathering will convey to the world that despite sustained political victimization, imprisonment, and institutional pressure, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf remains the country’s largest and most popular political party.
The Chief Minister stated that the rally is being organized on the direction of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and will serve as a powerful demonstration of his enduring political influence, unmatched popularity, and continued connection with the people of Pakistan, reaffirming that he remains the country’s most widely supported political leader and continues to command broad public confidence and emotional resonance.
In his video message, the Chief Minister stated that Imran Khan and his wife, Bushra Bibi, have been unjustly imprisoned, while the leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has remained subject to continuous persecution, coercion, and politically motivated actions over the past years.
He maintained that despite these measures, neither Imran Khan’s political narrative nor the public’s support for him has diminished.
He further stated that the 19 April gathering will demonstrate to the national and international community that Imran Khan retains the capacity to mobilize significant political activity across the country despite his illegal incarceration, and that his public appeal remains unmatched.
The Chief Minister noted that since the announcement of the rally, opponents, particularly individuals associated with certain digital platforms, are trying to undermine the event through negative propaganda. However, he stated that party workers will not be deterred by such tactics and will continue their political struggle in accordance with Imran Khan’s guidance.
He emphasized that whenever Imran Khan issues direction regarding political mobilization, it reflects a deliberate strategic vision and clear objective, and that party workers and supporters have a responsibility to ensure the success of that mission.
The Chief Minister added that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf intends to make the gathering one of the largest public assemblies in the country’s political history and, in Imran Khan’s absence, use it to send a clear message that the people of Pakistan continue to stand firmly with him as they have in the past and will in the future.
He called upon citizens from across the country to participate in large numbers in the public gathering scheduled for 3:00 PM on 19 April at Mardan Railway Ground and demonstrate their political resolve and public strength.
