Karachi: Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Hafiz Naeemur Rehman on Sunday called on the Muslim world to unite and take decisive action against the United States and Israel, warning that the two nations were systematically targeting Muslim countries.

Addressing a “Death to America, Death to Israel” public rally and Iftar gathering at Fatah Bagh, Block F, North Nazimabad, Hafiz Naeem said more than 75,000 Palestinians had been killed in Gaza, with Israel continuing to conduct heavy bombardment, including the use of phosphorus bombs.

He accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of pursuing an expansionist vision of a “Greater Israel” stretching from the Nile to the Euphrates, and said the United States was openly bankrolling these ambitions. “The Muslim world must unite and intensify efforts to establish justice within their own countries while confronting US and Israeli policies,” he said.

The JI Chief pointed to the 2006 Palestinian elections, in which Hamas secured a democratic victory, only for the result to be rejected by Washington. He also said that US President Donald Trump had believed that eliminating Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei would trigger regime change in Iran — a plan, he said, had failed.

He described the United States as a global power seeking to impose its own order in opposition to what he called divine principles, adding that some Muslim rulers were competing to align themselves with what he termed a US-backed “peace framework.” He noted, however, that pro-Zionist influence over US policy was increasingly being challenged by a growing domestic opposition movement within America itself.

Turning to domestic affairs, Hafiz Naeem firmly rejected the recent Rs55 per litre increase in petrol prices, questioning why the government had failed to pass on savings to consumers when global oil prices had previously fallen.

He also proposed that the Prime Minister issue a directive barring all government officials from using vehicles with engine capacities exceeding 1,300cc, framing the measure as a necessary step toward reducing state expenditure and demonstrating fiscal responsibility.
