LAHORE: A subsidy of Rs15 per kilogram on chicken meat and Rs10 per dozen on eggs has been announced for consumers during the holy month of Ramazan under a special relief package introduced by the Pakistan Poultry Association (PPA) in collaboration with the Government of Punjab.
The initiative aims to ensure the uninterrupted supply of affordable protein items at Sahulat Bazaars established across Punjab. Designated dealers at all Sahulat Bazaars will provide the subsidy, allowing citizens to purchase chicken meat and eggs at discounted rates throughout the month.
Importantly, the entire financial burden of the subsidy will be borne by the Pakistan Poultry Association itself, without recourse to public funds. Representatives of poultry traders will monitor supply chain operations and market practices to prevent shortages and maintain price discipline.
To oversee the commencement of the initiative, PPA Vice Chairman Malik Muhammad Sharif, along with Chaudhry Fargham Toor and Rai Mansab Ali Khan, visited various Sahulat Bazaars accompanied by Poultry Traders Association leader Tariq Javed. Special counters have been established and are now fully operational.
PPA and traders’ representatives stated that facilitating the public with affordable essential food items during the current economic climate is their foremost priority, adding that the subsidy programme will remain in effect for the entire month of Ramazan.
