ISLAMABAD: More than 51 criminal cases — including carjacking, robbery, dacoity, street crime, and two murders — were reported to various police stations across the federal capital during the past week, with citizens losing valuables worth millions of rupees.

According to data compiled by Business Recorder, the reported cases included 32 incidents of carjacking, seven cases of street crime — mainly purse and mobile snatching at gunpoint — and 11 robberies across the city.

Several police jurisdictions have emerged as crime hotspots, notably Khanna, Sabzi Mandi, Noon, Shalimar, and Industrial Area. Residents of these areas expressed serious concern over the rising crime rate and urged senior police officials to take decisive action against organised gangs.

During the same period, auto thieves stole multiple motorcycles from different police limits: five from Khanna, two each from Ramana, Shalimar, Sabzi Mandi, and Korral, and another two from the Bahara Kahu area.

At Khanna police station, one case each of robbery and street crime, along with five cases of auto theft, were recorded. In Sabzi Mandi’s jurisdiction, robbers struck at one location, two citizens were looted at gunpoint, and two motorcycles were stolen.

Noon police station reported four cases, including one car-lifting incident, two robberies, and one murder.

Meanwhile, the Industrial Area police registered two robbery cases and one auto theft, while three robberies were reported in the Sumbal police limits.
