KARACHI: The Pakistan Navy on Tuesday concluded its national-level maritime security exercise SEA GUARD-26 in Karachi, marking the end of a multi-day effort aimed at enhancing coordination and response mechanisms across Pakistan’s maritime sector.
The exercise culminated with a debriefing session attended by Vice Admiral Raja Rab Nawaz, Chief of Staff, Pakistan Navy, who was the chief guest on the occasion.
During the debrief, representatives of participating organisations were presented with an analytical review of the exercise, covering a range of scenarios conducted to test and validate information-sharing frameworks and coordinated response mechanisms among maritime stakeholders in the event of sector-wide contingencies.
Addressing the gathering, Vice Admiral Raja Rab Nawaz appreciated the effective conduct of the exercise and commended the role of the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre (JMICC) in integrating the efforts of various maritime entities. He stressed the importance of sustained engagement and collaboration among stakeholders and reaffirmed the Pakistan Navy’s commitment to proactively safeguarding the country’s maritime interests.
SEA GUARD-26, the third edition of the SEA GUARD series, brought together a broad spectrum of participants from across Pakistan’s maritime domain, including government regulatory authorities, law enforcement agencies, private sector organizations, and academic institutions.
The exercise featured a range of operational and scenario-based activities, including port and harbour defence, protection of vessels and maritime infrastructure, counter-narcotics operations, and search and rescue missions, aimed at strengthening preparedness against maritime security challenges.
