LAHORE: Inspector General (IG) Punjab Dr Usman Anwar has said that during the past three years, 139 DSPs have been promoted to SPs, 2,567 inspectors to DSPs, and 3,456 sub inspectors to the rank of inspectors. Moreover, an advance schedule for promotions from Constable to SP rank has been chalked out.
He was speaking at rank pinning ceremony for officers promoted from the rank of DSP to SP held at the Central Police Office. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar awarded the SP ranks to the promoted officers.The IG Punjab congratulated the officers and their families and directed them to perform their duties with greater dedication, honesty, and professional commitment. He said that he is grateful to Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif for appreciating the successful operations carried out by Punjab Police against criminals in the Katcha areas.
The approval of 1,000 new posts for the Crime Control Department by the Chief Minister Punjab is clear evidence of the department’s outstanding performance.
The IG further said that with the formation of the tourist force, an additional 980 new posts will be created in Punjab Police, while the approval of modern equipment for CTD and Special Branch will help in curbing terrorism and subversive elements.
Additional IG Punjab Imran Arshad, Additional IG Special Branch Rao Abdul Karim, DIG Headquarters Dr. Muhammad Abid Khan, DIG Establishment-I Suleman Sultan Rana, SP Anum Faryal, and other senior officers attended the ceremony.
