LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari has said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, revolutionary measures are being implemented in the sectors of healthcare, rescue services and urban safety across the province.

She stated that the Chief Minister has inaugurated a modern cath lab in Jhang, while state-of-the-art cath labs will soon become operational in 16 districts of Punjab. She said that one cath lab will be inaugurated every week, and all 16 cath labs will be fully functional by next month. These facilities are equipped with the latest medical technology and provide an environment comparable to international-standard hospitals, she added.

While speaking at a press conference here Thursday alongside Director General Rescue 1122, Dr. Rizwan Naseer Azma highlighted that in the past, cardiac patients were forced to travel to distant cities for angiography, wasting valuable time and resources and often waiting for days for appointments. However, with the establishment of modern cath labs in every district, patients will now receive timely and quality cardiac care within their own districts, she added.

Azma Bokhari said that the Chief Minister’s visits are not ceremonial but focused on direct public engagement, listening to people’s issues and ensuring immediate solutions. She added that government hospitals in Punjab are being upgraded to international standards, with special emphasis on cleanliness, while the Chief Minister herself is supervising the deep-cleaning process.

Speaking about Rescue 1122, Azma Bokhari said that the United Nations certification awarded to Rescue 1122 is recognition of the institution’s dedication, professional competence and sacrifices. She termed it a great honour for Pakistan, particularly Punjab, and emphasized that such certifications are achieved through consistent hard work and professionalism, not mere claims.

She further announced that Rescue 1122 services will be expanded to the tehsil level across Punjab within this year, ensuring rapid response during emergencies.
