ISLAMABAD: Criminals looted cash and valuables and stole motorcycles and cars worth millions of rupees in more than 49 incidents of robbery, dacoity, snatching, and carjacking reported to different police stations across the federal capital during the past week.

Data compiled by Business Recorder shows that the cases included over 25 motorcycle thefts, six car thefts, 12 robberies, and six street crime incidents involving the snatching of cash and mobile phones. The incidents were reported at various police stations across the city.

During the period under review, criminal activity remained particularly high within the jurisdictions of Shehzad Town, Khanna, Industrial Area, Aabpara, Ramana, and Humak police stations.

One of the most shocking incidents of the week was reported from Islamabad’s Sector G-8, where a young Chinese woman died after jumping from the rooftop of a residential building. Police identified the deceased as Wan Ru Ping, who had arrived in Pakistan on a visit visa. Preliminary investigations indicated that she sustained fatal head injuries as a result of the fall. The body was moved to a nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities. Police said the available evidence suggests the incident appears to be a suicide, though investigations are continuing and all aspects of the case are being looked into.

In the same period, auto thieves stole four motorbikes and one car, as well as robbers struck at two different places in the jurisdiction of Shehzad Town Police Station. Four cases of robberies were reported to Khanna Police Station, and auto thieves stole three motorbikes, and a case of street crime was registered at Industrial Area Police Station.

Additionally, auto thieves stole three motorbikes and armed robbers struck at one location within the limits of Aabpara, and two cases of street crime and one case of auto theft were reported to Ramana Police Station.

Furthermore, Humak police station registered three cases of auto theft. Two more cases of auto theft were reported to Karachi Company Police during the last week.
