LAHORE: A ceremony for signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Punjab Police and the renowned private welfare organization Al-Marah Foundation was held at the Central Police Office.

Under this MoU, Al-Marah Foundation will assume responsibility for the education, training, and care of all abandoned and orphaned children received by the Punjab Police.

Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, and Chairperson Al-Marah Foundation, Sophia Waraich, signed the MoU. The spokesperson for Punjab Police stated that under this agreement, Al-Marah Foundation will also undertake treatment, medical care, and welfare initiatives for children of police officers and personnel who are affected by autism.

On this occasion, IGP Punjab Dr Usman Anwar appreciated Al-Marah Foundation’s efforts in providing excellent care, education, and training to hundreds of orphaned and destitute children, and said that the welfare of police employees and their children is a top priority of Punjab Police.

He further stated that a state-of-the-art daycare center will be established at Police College Sihala for the care of affected children of police employees.

IGP Punjab Dr Usman Anwar added that awareness and training facilities will also be provided to parents for the better care and upbringing of children affected by autism.

Additional IGP Training Punjab, Mehboob Aslam Lilla, stated that Al-Marah Foundation has engaged the services of medical specialists and psychologists for the treatment of children affected by autism and for parental counseling.

Additional IGP Welfare and Finance Imran Arshad, Additional IGP Training Punjab Mehboob Aslam Lilla, DIG Welfare and Finance Zeeshan Asghar, AIG Finance Nida Umar Chattha, along with other officers, were also present at the ceremony.
