LAHORE: An enforcement team of the Punjab Food Authority carried out a crackdown in Ravi Town, Shahdara, sealed a unit involved in facilitating the production of fake cold drinks, and registered an FIR against those involved.

The food safety team seized 2,000 empty ready-to-use bottles, eight dye containers, a blowing machine, a coding machine, a compressor and large quantities of filled bottles of various well-known brands.

Director General PFA Asim Javed stated that the unit was illegally manufacturing counterfeit bottles of famous brands in violation of food laws.

He said that non-food-grade material was being used to produce fake bottles identical to original ones. He said used bottles were being re-coded and re-labeled, while the seized ready bottles were intended to be supplied to multiple units across the city. He directed vigilance teams to trace the supply chain through intelligence based reconnaissance and submit detailed reports.

The DG said that a zero-tolerance policy is in place against the counterfeit mafia and facilitators. He emphasized that, under the orders of the Chief Minister Punjab, there is no place for food terrorists in Punjab.

He further stated that individuals deceiving the public will not be allowed to conduct business in the province under any circumstances, as Punjab Food Authority remains committed to making Punjab healthy and adulteration-free.
