KARACHI: The SIUT signed an MoU with the Edhi Foundation on Thursday to collaborate for development of paramedic education and training. The event took place at the Aga Hasan Abedi auditorium.

Dr Syed Adibul Hasan Rizvi signed the MoU on behalf of the SIUT while Faisal Edhi represented the Edhi Foundation at the signing ceremony. In line with the understanding, the Edhi Foundation will fund the paramedic program.

Dr Adib Rizvi praised founder of the Edhi Foundation - late Abdul Sattar Edhi for being open and honest. He appreciated late Edhi for his services to the humanity and said that he wanted to build an education tower as well.

After signing the understanding, head of the Edhi Foundation, Faisal Edhi announced full funding to the medical, education training to paramedics at the SIUT. He supported the initiative and lauded the SIUT for its high standard of medical education.

“It is a joy moment for us to collaborate with the SIUT,” on education, he said that the Edhi Foundation intends joint efforts for supporting medical education training.

Earlier, SIUT trustee, Syed Shabbar Zaidi introduced the event to the participants, highlighting purpose of the training program that will see the Edhi Foundation funding through an MoU. The program, he said, is specific to training of paramedics to overcome workforce shortage in the country.

He said that there is a commercialization of medical education, becoming hard for the deserving student to receive it due to beyond affordability. The move, he hoped, will help the aspiring students attain medical education training at the SIUT.

Zaidi thanked Faisal Edhi for his support to the program and said that the Edhi Foundation will finance the medical education on an annual basis.
