Four people, including the North Waziristan assistant commissioner and two police personnel, were martyred and multiple others wounded in an attack on the official’s convoy in the Mamash Khel area of Bannu district on Tuesday.

President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed sorrow over the martyrdom of four individuals, including the assistant commissioner of North Waziristan, in the armed attack in Bannu, the President House said in a statement.

The president extended his sympathy and condolences to the families of the martyrs, praying for the salvation of the martyrs and patience for the bereaved families.

Four cops martyred, 11 injured in DIK terrorist attack

Condemning the terrorist attack, Zardari stated that the complete elimination of terrorists operating with external backing in the beloved country is being carried out through national consensus.

He prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured police personnel and directed the relevant agencies to ensure the immediate arrest of the attackers.

In a statement issued by the Prime Minister Office (PMO), Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed that immediate medical aid be provided to the injured.

Expressing sorrow over the incident, the prime minister prayed for the salvation of the martyrs and for patience for the bereaved families.

He also directed that the incident be investigated and the saboteurs be immediately brought to justice.

“We will crush the nefarious designs of terrorists, who are enemies of humanity,” said the prime minister.

The government is determined to completely eliminate terrorism from the country, PM Shehbaz added.

Meanwhile, KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi also expressed sorrow over the incident and sought a report from the KP inspector general of police. He directed the authorities to provide fast and best possible medical facilities to the injured.

“It is an extremely deplorable incident. The anti-national elements cannot dampen our spirit with such cowardly attacks. Sacrifices of the martyred would not go waste. The war on terror would continue with more strong commitment,” he said.
