Babar Azam equals unwanted record for most T20I ducks for Pakistan
- Joins Umar Akmal and Saim Ayub with 10 dismissals without scoring
Pakistan’s star batter Babar Azam has equalled the national record for the most ducks in T20 internationals, joining Umar Akmal and Saim Ayub with 10 dismissals without scoring, according to official statistics.
According to official match statistics, Saim Ayub reached the tally in just 50 innings, the fastest among the three. Umar Akmal recorded the same number of ducks in 79 innings, while former captain Babar Azam matched the unwanted milestone after 125 innings.
The statistic has sparked debate among fans and analysts, highlighting both Pakistan are batting volatility in the shorter format and the growing scrutiny on top-order consistency.
Despite the record, all three players remain among Pakistan’s most recognised T20 performers, contributing significantly in other batting metrics over their careers.
The former No.1 T20I batter fell early in Pakistan’s chase of a daunting 185-run target against Sri Lanka in Rawalpindi. His dismissal put added pressure on the middle order as Pakistan struggled to build momentum.
At the time of filing this story, Pakistan were 124-5 after 15 overs, still needing 61 runs off 30 balls with five wickets remaining.
