LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, during a media talk in London on Sunday, said her government has not taken any action motivated by revenge, insisting that neither she nor PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif had ever targeted political opponents.
She said both she and Nawaz Sharif were themselves victims of political vendettas in the past, adding that the world “is aware of how the government in Pakistan was once run on witchcraft.”
The chief minister also remarked that Field Marshal Asim Munir’s military leadership had brought Pakistan victory against India, a claim she said was widely acknowledged internationally.
Questioning the judiciary’s past conduct, she asked why judges' “conscience did not awaken earlier,” stating that both she and Nawaz Sharif were wrongly convicted.
She added that judges’ conscience now appeared to be “politically awake.”
