FAISALABAD: Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) organised a two-day International Iqbal Conference titled ‘Sitaaron Se Aagay Jahan Aur Bhi Hain’ to commemorate Iqbal Day. The conference was arranged by the Department of Urdu and brought together renowned scholars, researchers, academicians, and literary figures from across Pakistan and abroad to deliberate on the message and philosophy of Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

The inaugural session was presided over by Prof Dr Rauf-I-Azam, Vice Chancellor, GCUF.

In his keynote address, he highlighted the philosophical and spiritual dimensions of Iqbal’s thought, saying that Allama Muhammad Iqbal was the intellectual architect and spiritual guide of the Muslims of the subcontinent, who awakened their self-awareness and confidence.

Dr Rauf-e-Azam further stated that Iqbal’s concept of the Shaheen symbolizes courage, self-reliance, and continuous struggle. He emphasized that “the realization of Iqbal’s dream is possible only when the youth take the lead in education, research, and innovation, playing an active role in the economic and social development of the nation.”

The scholarly sessions featured presentations from Prof Dr Shahida Yousaf, Prof Dr Sher Ali, Dean of Al-Hamd Islamic University, Dr Rashid Hameed, Executive Director, National Language Promotion Department, Dr Ossan Abdul Majeed, Professor of Arts, Syriy, and renowned writer Muhammad Hameed Shahid.
