ISLAMABAD: Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Thursday visited the Press Gallery and Press Lounge of Parliament House on the occasion of the Parliamentary Reporters Association of Pakistan (PRAP) elections.

He was accompanied by PPP MNA and Chief Whip Ejaz Hussain Jakhrani, PRAP election candidates, and senior officials of the National Assembly.

During the visit, the Speaker reviewed the election process and held a meeting with the Election Committee. Chairman of the committee, Tariq Sameer, briefed him on the code of conduct and procedures being followed in the polls.

Speaking on the occasion, Ayaz Sadiq lauded the role of parliamentary reporters, calling them an essential bridge between Parliament and the people. “The Press Gallery and PRAP are integral components of Parliament. Parliamentary reporters play a vital role in conveying the proceedings of the House and the issues of the people to the wider public,” he said.

The election of office-bearers through democratic means is the true spirit of democracy,” he remarked.

He also appreciated the professionalism of parliamentary reporters, noting that they are highly educated and well-mannered individuals. He expressed hope that the elections would bring forward the best representatives for PRAP.
