Installation of water metres must be included in coming budget: LHC
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday hearing petitions regarding environmental issues observed that the installation of water metres must be included in the upcoming provincial budget and adjourned the proceedings to June 06.
The court also observed that water bills should also be issued in GOR zones to discourage unnecessary usage of water.
Earlier, a law officer assured the court that the installation of water metres will indeed be part of the new budget plan.
The court commenting on the global warming observed that the temperature increase projected for 2050 is now expected by 2028.
The court also instructed the Environment Department to implement the issuance of emission testing stickers for vehicles and order to impose fines on vehicles emitting smoke on the motorways.
The court also called for a report regarding the actions taken against the smoke emitting vehicles.
The court also emphasised that those burning crop residues should face heavy financial penalties.
