LAHORE: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) in collaboration with Federal Tax Ombudsman (FTO) organized an awareness session on the Role of FTO.
The Awareness Session on the Role of Federal Tax Ombudsman was presided over by the President Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry while Income Tax Advisers of Federal Tax Ombudsman Khalid Javed, Ahmed Shahab and Director FTO Nazim Raza also spoke on the occasion.
President of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry Kashif Anwar welcomed the participants and thanked Federal Tax Ombudsman for taking all possible steps for the immediate resolution of all tax related conflicts of the business community.
Kashif Anwar said it is good to see that Federal Tax Ombudsman has organized such sessions to guide the business community in all the major chambers of the country and meetings have also been held with various tax bars and SMEs to create awareness. He termed it a very important initiative because a large number of people are still not fully aware of the function of the Federal Tax Ombudsman and its benefits, due to which they are facing many difficulties in solving tax related issues.
The LCCI President mentioned that personal interest of Federal Tax Ombudsman Dr Asif Mehmood Jah has established a very strong working relationship between the FTO and the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He said that FTO is taking all possible steps for immediate resolution of all tax related conflicts.
Kashif Anwar added that Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry highly values the active role of the Federal Tax Ombudsman to resolve tax refunds and other related issues. He said that a few months ago, a ceremony was also organized by the FTO office in the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry to pay the cheques of tax refunds. He hoped that the process of payment of tax refunds will be made more active in the near future to ensure maximum facilitation for the export sector.
The LCCI President further stated that it is the need of the hour to get the country out of this economic crisis and the business community can play a key role in this regard, provided that they are fully facilitated by the government. To achieve this goal, the country institutions will have to play an active role and cooperate fully with the business community.
