KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust handled 246,746 tonnes of cargo comprising 174,067 tonnes of import cargo and 72,679 tonnes of export cargo during last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours.

The total import cargo of 174,067 comprised of 70,907 tonnes of Containerized Cargo, 1,216 tonnes of Bulk Cargo, 9,357 tonnes of DAP, 8,760 tonnes of Purified Terephthelic Acid, 11,812 tonnes of Wheat, 733 tonnes of Yellow Soya Bean Seeds and 71,282 tonnes of Oil/Liquid Cargo.

The total export cargo of 72,679 tonnes comprised of 72,325 tonnes of containerized cargo, 354 tonnes of Bulk Cargo.

As many as, 5680 containers comprising of 2563 containers import and 3117 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.

The break-up of imported containers shows 844 of 20’s and 739 of 40’s loaded while 33 of 20’s and 104 of 40’s empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 733 of 20’s and 729 of 40’s loaded containers while 216 of 20’s and 355 of 40’s empty containers were handled during the business hours on Monday.

Some 09 ships namely, Wadi Bani Khalid, OEL Kedarnath, Songa Leopard, Ever Dainty, Tiger Joy, Maram, Southern Wolf, OOCL Guangzhou and Celsius Naples have berth at Karachi Port.

Nearly 06 ships, namely OOCL Norfolk, Symi, Cosco Thailand, Independent Spirit, AS Clementina, Ellie, Al Salmy 7, Raysut, Southern Zantis, Julie, M.T Karachi, STO Cemellia, Wadi BaniKhalid, Hake, Tiger Joy, CP Shenzhen, Songa Leopard and X-Press Bardsey have sailed out from Karachi Port.

About 07 ships namely, Diyala, Uafl Dubai, Kota Padang, Oceana Sun, Encore,

Goodwyn Island and Diamond Express were expected to arrive at the port.

PORT QSSIM

Meanwhile two more ships, Charishma and Great Pioneer scheduled to load/offload 40,607 tonnes of Rice and 59,632 tonnes Coal also arrived at outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the same day.

A total of 10 ships were engaged at PQA berths during the last 24 hours, out of them, five ships, CMA CGM Titus, Diyala, Zakreet, Lila Gothenburg and Meratus Jayawijaya left the port on Monday morning, while another ship ‘Anani’ is expected to sail on today in the afternoon.

Cargo handling remained upward trend at the port on Sunday where a cargo volume of 202,445 tonnes, comprising 137,818 tonnes imports cargo and 64,627 tonnes export cargo, including containerized cargo carried in 5,292 Containers (2,329 TEUs Imports and 2,963 TEUs export) was handled at the Port.

There are 07 ships at Outer Anchorage of Port Qasim, out of them, four ships, Great Pioneer, Augusta, MSC Busan and MSC Jasmine & two more ships, Seago Bremerhaven and Southern Pioneer carrying Coal, Furnace oil, Containers and Chemicals are expected to take berths at Bulk Terminal, Oil Terminal, Container Terminal and Engro Terminal on Monday, 7th February, while two more Container vessels Maersk Seletar and Xpress Nile are due to arrive at Port Qasim on Tuesday, 8th February-2022
