LAHORE: Pakistan Tax Bar Association (PTBA) leadership has pointed out that mistakes in the Income Tax return form are still visible while the final date for filing of returns is round the corner. President PTBA Aftab Hussain Nagra has urged the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to set a deadline for filing of tax returns once the online returns form is fully corrected. He said PTBA was ready to extend full cooperation to FBR in correcting the mistakes in the tax returns form. He was addressing a seminar organized by the Association on prevailing shortcomings in tax return template. PTBA Patron in Chief Abdul Qadir Memon, Senior Vice President Qari Habibur Rehman Zubari, former President of the Association Naeem Shah, and others were present on the occasion.

He pointed out that no corrective measures had been adopted since January 2020 despite repeated calls by the PTBA. It is unfortunate that the date for filing returns is extended every year without removing the mistakes in the return. Another tax practitioner Habib Fakhro pointed out shortcomings in the return 2020-21, said the tax return should have been finalized by 1st of January as per law. He said millions are spent on advertisements but final date extended again. He said FBR should streamline the return issues after consulting PTBA and local bars.
