I would not have opted for complete lockdown if provinces had asked for it, says PM

(Karachi) Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that he would not had enforced complete lockdown in the country if the provinces had asked him to do so.

Addressing an event in Islamabad on Monday, he said that coronavirus pandemic has not only affected the developing countries but also developed states.

He said in this hour of crisis, the common man helped the government to counter the Covid-19 outbreak by donating money generously.

He added people in Pakistan donate generously and this passion is exceptional as it helps poor segments of the society and those in need. "If people know their money is being spent for the right cause, they donate money with passion."

He highlighted that people know their funds bare not being plundered, rather the money is being spent in the right place.

Imran said that the government donated money in different cities and far-flung areas to help jobless and daily wage workers.

He maintained, "Even in the United States and Italy, people are standing in queue and wait for donations and help."

The prime minister mentioned that the government established shelter homes for the poor. He said the ministers and elected representatives should visit shelter homes and ensure provision of facilities to them.

He expressed satisfaction over the Ehsaas cash scheme and said the government will continue to help and support poor people in the country.
