The incident of targeted killing continued unabated in the city, as three more people including an activist of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) were killed on Monday in different area of the metropolis. According to police and rescue sources, an activist of MQM was shot dead while another sustained injuries when unknown armed men opened fire on them at Lea Market Chowk in the jurisdiction of Kharadar police station.
They said that unidentified motorcyclists opened fire on Imran, 25 son of Abdul Razzak and his friend Salman. Resultantly, both of them received bullet wounds and were shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) where Imran succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
SHO Ejaz Khokar said the victim, who was an active worker of MQM, was the resident of new Kumharwara area. He suspected that he might have been murdered over political ground. Following the incident, tension gripped several parts of the city including Kharadar, Lea Market, Khadda Market and Jodia Bazaar, where all major markets and shops were closed. No case was registered till filing of this report.
In another incidents, two bullet-riddled bodies stuffed in gunny bags were found from Qadri Graveyard near Khajji ground in the limits of Rizvia police station.
Police said the identities of the victims were yet to be ascertained.
Police said that both victims, who appeared to be in mid-twenties, were murdered after severe torture. The bodies were shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for post-mortem and later moved to Edhi Morgue.
