Militancy, terrorism led to severe repercussions for the nation, says Kausar

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor, Barrister Masood Kausar has said that the problems of extremism, militancy and terrorism have led to severe repercussions for the nation especially the people of the province and FATA. Not only a major part of educational and health institutions were destroyed but the people were also exposed to psychological disorders, he added.
He expressed these remarks while addressing the concluding session of the 13th 2-Day National Psychology Conference jointly organised by the Pakistan Psychological Association and the Psychology Department of the International Islamic University, Islamabad at its premises.
The governor said that the educational institutions are the right forums where realistically unbiased deliberations could take place. The ceremony vastly attended by renowned psychologists and intellectuals from across the country was also addressed by MNA Riaz Fatyana, who also took oath as the president of the association for the next term.
Kausar said that both the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA were the worst victims of militancy, terrorism, and extremism and there was a need to take the issue as the top most priority.
"We need to produce balanced, good Muslim citizens and Islam is not hurdle to this way whereas it teaches lessons of peace, tolerance and love." The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and FATA with 3 per cent and 16 per cent literacy rates amongst male and female populations respectively deserve to be given special focus, he added.
The role of psychologists in this respect, he said, was of paramount importance and there was a need to promote this subject even at the schools and college level to help the people in getting out of the stress ridden situation and seek viable way out.
Riaz Fatyana, MNA, while welcoming the governor highlighted the aims and objectives of the association. He further said that they had chalked out a six-year plan under which not only the conferences of the similar nature would be arranged at the regional level but the association would also be streamlined at the divisional level. He also vowed to make efforts for legislation through the Parliament for establishment of Pakistan Psychological Council as the regularity body on the pattern of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council and Pakistan Engineering Council.
The organization, he added, was also going to reach at memorandum of understandings with a number of international bodies shortly which would help a lot in promoting the subject. Earlier, the governor also administered oath of offices to the members of the newly elected central as well as the provincial bodies of the association.
