Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani offered prayers on last Friday of Ramazan at the capital's iconic Faisal Mosque, nestled at the Margallas foothills. The Imam of Faisal Mosque prayed for peace in the country, particularly for normalcy in Karachi, and sought Allah Almighty's blessings to help the country face numerous challenges.
Former ministers ervaiz Ashraf, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Nazar Mohammad Gondal accompanied the prime minister. Prime Minister Gilani in a message on the 'Youm-e-Dua' expressed hope that the government would be able to restore peace in Karachi with the co-operation of people of Pakistan.
The Ramazan this year has been all the more significant as it coincided with Pakistan's Independence Day on 14th August, that was on Laila-tul-Qadr - the most blessed 27th night of Ramazan. "The people of Pakistan rightly regard the creation of Pakistan as a 'divine gift'. Our dear homeland, established in the sacred name of Islam, is the centre of hopes and expectations of the Muslim world," Gilani said in his message.
The Prime Minister said that the recent incidents in Karachi were a matter of concern not only for people of Pakistan but also for the entire Islamic world. He said the spate of terrorism, target killing and law breaking were adversely impacting the national growth. The Prime Minister vowed to do everything possible to safeguard the national interests and the life, dignity, and property of the people.
