Pakistani actress Mahira Khan’s latest cinematographic venture ‘Verna’ is reportedly facing trouble after the Central Board of Film Censor, Islamabad (CBFC) has found its content a little questionable.

The Shoaib Mansoor directed movie is based on the social issue of rape and sexual harassment where Mahira will be seen playing a rape survivor. The movie revolves around the story of a brave woman who is determined to avenge her rapist. However, the movie has said to have described the abuse in its raw, which has garnered much of the attention.

However, while speaking to a local news outlet, Sindh Board of Film Censors (SBFC) General Secretary Abdul Razzaq Khuhawar said, “The topic is rape and the culprit is the governor’s son. The film doesn’t have to be banned and can be tweaked and censored a bit to be deemed fit for release.”

On the other hand, the CBFC chairman Mobashir Hasan said, “The film is yet to be viewed by the full board and see if there are any objections. Nothing has been decided and the film is not banned so far. We will view it and come to a final decision soon.

The movie was scheduled to released on November 17 and along with Mahira, the film also features singer turned actor Haroon Shahid.
