Former federal minister, Afaq Khan Shahid passed away due to cardiac arrest at a hospital here on Sunday. The deceased was also a member of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Karachi Co-ordination Committee, said a statement issued by Secretary Information PPP Sindh, Waqar Mehdi.
Afaq Khan Shahid is survived by his widow, two sons, two daughters, seven brothers and four sisters. The ex-federal minister started his political career from students' union at Quaid-e-Azam College, Dhaka in the then East Pakistan.
He was twice elected as Member of the National Assembly in 1985 in non-party election and in 1993. He announced to join PPP during his meeting with Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto in 1987 at 70 Clifton, Karachi. Afaq Khan Shahid had also suffered imprisonment during 1997 to 2007, in the struggle for restoration of democracy.
The burial of former federal minister will be held on September 27, at 5 pm, in a graveyard at Bismillah Colony, sector: 10-A, Orangi Town here.
