Vidya Balan starrer, ‘Begum Jaan’ is the latest upcoming film to have faced a ban in Pakistan. The film, which is based during the partition era, will not be releasing in Pakistan.
Although the movie’s trailer was met with some outstanding responses from the audience but looks like the movie is in for some serious trouble.
Producer Mahesh Bhatt has even reportedly written to the Pakistan government to allow the release of the film. However, he has yet to receive their reply. Citing that Pak officials often bar films that portray the country in bad light, reports allege that 'Begum Jaan' might just suffer the same fate as films like 'Raees', 'Jolly LLB', 'Neerja', to name a few.
The current political situation between the two nations is also cited as a reason for the film not getting its April 14 release in the country.
Vidya Balan is ferocious and unabashed in her latest upcoming film ‘Begum Jaan’. She plays a brothel owner who finds her property in the line of Partition. However, she decides to fight against the injustice meted out to her.

The cast of ‘Begum Jaan’ consists of Vidya Balan, Gauahar Khan, Ila Arun, Pallavi Sharda, and Naseeruddin Shah, among others. But for all those who don’t know, Begum Jaan is the Hindi adaptation of National Award-winning filmmaker Srijit Mukherji’s Bengali’s film, Rajkahini.
