Deputy Speaker of Punjab Assembly Sardar Shaukat Mazari said that General Elections would be held in 2007 and this assembly would complete its tenure which is a good tradition after 1977 and these would be transparent, fair, free and impartial like past and all political parties would take part in it.
Talking to newsmen here he said that Benazir Bhutto and Mian Nawaz Sharif's case is a separate issue however he was confident that both opposition parties would not boycott the elections. He said that Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi was paying proper attention toward the neglected areas of Southern Punjab. A remodelling project was being executed at Taunsa Barrage with an estimated cost of Rs 10 billion. A big bridge on river Chenab near Muzaffargarh is also being constructed and Chief Minister had provided Rs 450 million to each district of the province without any discrimination.
He said that Motorway was being extended to Kabirwala from Pindi Bhattian and he suggested to extend it to Tranda Muhammad Panah via Muzaffargarh, Khangarh, Shehr Sultan Alipur to facilitate the millions of people.
