Dar for moving towards knowledge economy

imageISLAMABAD: Finance Minister, Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar Wednesday said that it was time to move towards knowledge economy through substantial investments in Information Technology and Telecom sector.

During a meeting with Talal Abu Ghazaleh, a global leader and entrepreneur in digital and Information Technology, who called on the Minister here, Dar said the government would provide full support and assistance to foreign investors.

The minister welcomed the visiting dignitary and praised him for his outstanding services for the Muslim Ummah.

Abu Ghazaleh has had the distinction of being Senator in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and has rendered meritorious services for the Muslim world in the field of education, business, entrepreneurship, innovation and technology.

The Minister apprised him on the steps taken by the government to improve the business climate and said that it was now government's priority to further improve the Ease of Doing Business indicator.

He said Pakistan was receiving international recognition for creating the right atmosphere for international businesses to invest in the country.

On the occasion, Talal Abu Ghazaleh congratulated the Finance Minister on Pakistan's economic turnaround in the last three years and said that there were tremendous investment and business opportunities in Pakistan.

Appreciating increased digital outreach in Pakistan, Talal Abu Ghazaleh said that fast expansion of information technology services to far flung areas of Pakistan and healthy market competition provides considerable opportunities for establishing new businesses in Pakistan.

Among others, Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication Ms. Anusha Rehman, senior officials of the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of IT were present in the meeting.
