The fertile land of Pakistan is a land of both problems and opportunities; electricity supply and cost for example remains one of the core issue’s of the country.
With media and big corporations constantly instructing us on lowering our electricity consumption, one Pakistani startup has come with an ingenious solution. A tech startup called Fictive Lab, formed by alumni of PITB’s Plan9 project and LUMS Center for Entrepreneurship have developed a device called Wattie.
“Fictive Lab bridges the gap between physical and digital world through smart connected devices. Moreover it also enables appliance manufacturers to develop smart and connected version of their existing products by integrating them with Interact platform,” reads the startup website.
Coming to Wattie; this is a smart energy device that can be connected to your smartphone, through an app, as per reports by the local media. The device provides user a ton of data about his/her electricity consumption, other than that, it also provides useful suggestions on how to save up to 25 percent off your bill.
The Wi-Fi connected device is inserted in the electricity distribution box, producing analytics on home energy consumption, directly to your smartphone through an app.
Now, how does it work? Wattie measures the energy flowing through the network in real time, i.e. receiving data every five seconds. This device is capable of recording over half a million points in a month time period, and then sends it over the cloud to the start up.
The data then gets filtered through a process called pattern recognition and is converted to important information.
