FAISALABAD: University of Agriculture Faisalabad Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iqrar Ahmad Khan has said that adoption of precision agriculture and genomics were essential to reduce the cost of production.
Addressing the meeting of assistant professors and lecturers at New Senate Hall here on Tuesday, he said that as per reports, there would be 75 percent more food in the world than the requirement by 2050 due to latest technologies.
He said that the UAF was making all out efforts for addressing the issues of the farming community, stakeholders, civil society and the campus community.
He said quality education and tangible researches pertaining to social, scientific, industrial and agricultural issues worked as engine for development and progress of the country.
He said that UAF had introduced 42-demand driven new degree programmes keeping in view the need of the modern era, adding that UAF's current enrolment had increased 50 percent in the last three years.
The VC also thanked the Punjab Government for setting up state-of-the-art hostel for 1,000 students at the UAF.
