ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) on Sunday issued a show cause notice to a private news channel for airing abusive language by MPA Mian Mehmood ur Rashid.
According to the notice, on June 10, 2016 at 8:48 pm, Dunya television aired abusive language which is a violation of the PEMRA code of conduct as airing such language about anyone is not permitted.
The notice, signed by the PEMRA's general manager operations, has ordered Dunya television officials to appear before the Authority and explain its position regarding the issue by June 19.
The news channel was also asked to explain in its reply that on the directives of PEMRA for live transmission 'time delay mechanism' was installed or not. If installed then it should provide its details to PEMRA for inspection purpose, it added.
The notice further said whether the channel had formed its editorial committee or not and if editorial committee was formed then the channel may provide its detail on immediate basis to the regulatory authority.
