LONDON: European stock markets slid at the start of trading on Thursday following a poor performance by Tokyo.
London's FTSE 100 index fell 0.4 percent compared with Wednesday's close to open at 6,274.27 points.
In the eurozone, Frankfurt's DAX 30 stocks shed 0.3 percent to 10,184.48 points and the CAC 40 in Paris slipped 0.3 percent also, to 4,437.02.
